Taff Fechan Viaduct, Merthyr Tydfil. Parapet &  Safety Fence Repairs

Client: Cemex and SWTRA

Through the SWTRA Framework ALD were asked to carry out repairs to the viaduct on the A465 trunk road.

The works included:
  • Using self supporting cantilever scaffolding 
  • Installing & grouting parapet rails
  • Concrete repairs to existing parapets
  • Installing safety mesh

Monnow Gatehouse Bridge, Monmouth. Restoration &  Repairs

Client: Monmouthshire County Council

ALD were brought in to carry out restoration and repairs to the historical gatehouse. Due to the importance of such a gatehouse, ALD worked closely with CADW and the council in order to source and install similar materials to preserve the ancient monument. 

The works included:
  • Pointing to existing mortar joints
  • Repairing existing roof
  • Installing new lighting system
  • Installing new rope rail
  • Reinstating stone tile roof 
  • Removed existing and laid new block paving to footpath.
A470 Abercynon Roundabout. Dedicated Left Turn Lane

Client: Cemex and SWTRA

ALD were asked to create a new filter lane to ease congestion at the Abercynon roundabout. This entailed day and night works in order to reduce congestion and delays. 

The works included:

  • Excavation for & full construction of a dedicated lane.
  • Installlation of a large drainage system
  • Creating V ditch to top of batter
  • Laying Kerbs & edgings 
  • Installation of soil nails & facing (external contractors)
