Glynneath Bridge, Neath. Scour Protection Scheme
Client: Cemex and SWTRA

ALD Plant Hire as part of the SWTRA contract with their partners Cemex were asked to carry out large concrete repairs and establish a new block-stone retaining wall where the existing had fallen into disrepair.

The works included: 
  • Creation of temporary road and ramp
  • Site clearance
  • Installation of temporary bndgeway 
  • Installation of Sedimats
  • Bunding and diversion of riverway
  • In situ concrete repairs
  • Installation of block-stone retaining wall
  • Installation of gabion basket retaining wall
  • Reinstatement of riverway
Dingestow Landslip. Soil Nailing & Road Repairs

Client: Monmouthshire County Council

The road and bank were showings signs of instability possibly endangering motorists. ALD Plant Hire were asked to install a soil nailing system in order to stabilize the bank and carry out repairs to the existing road.

The works included: 
  • Installing soil nails & dowels (External contractor)
  • Transplanting existing hedge
  • Surfacing previously damaged road 
  • Installing post & 3 rail fence
  • Landscaping & grass seeding verge







Staunton Rd, Monmouth. Stabilisation Works

Client: Monmouthshire County Council

The existing wall was showing signs of subsidence. ALD were asked to install a gabion basket retaining wall to support the bank.

The works included: 
  • Removing existing dry stone wall
  • Laying concrete for foundations
  • Installing faced gabion basket wall filled with gabion stone
  • Laying type 1 subbase 
  • Installing pre-seeded Hessian Covamat
  • Re-forming bank & top soiling
